With festival season fast approaching we thought we would go around the country and highlight a few of those festivals that don't have massive sponsorship backing, but great line-ups for you to check out.

We start off with The Plymouth Festival. From 2-4 July at the Newham Park in Plympton, musical highlights include Biffy Clyro, thisGIRL Haven, 3 Colours Red, Million Dead and Stampin' Ground. Camping tickets are £45 for all three days although you can get non-camping tickets for £30 with day tickets also available. For full details on getting tickets and line-ups, check the official site linked above.

Over the same period (that’s 2-4 July) in Bracknell we have the Out There Festival. Being held at the South Hill Park Arts Centre line up includes Lemon Jelly, Bonobo and Amp Fiddler as well as many others. Tickets for the full weekend cost £50 and full line-ups can be found at the official festival website.

The 7th of August sees the return of one of my favourite festivals, the Thurrock Music Festival! After taking a year out, the organisers are back and they are bigger and better then ever with Jetplane Landing, Reuben, Engerica, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and My Red Cell already confirmed with many more to come and all it costs is £8!!! Details are coming in thick and fast and you can keep updated by checking the official site on a regular basis.

That’s just a few of the choice cuts we can give you. Although a few of the staple festivals of past years are in doubt (there is no Willow in Peterborough and no news on Breeze in Leeds to date), there are enough other festivals to concentrate on. Have fun, be safe and keep the scene alive!

DiS Goes Camping: Festival Round Up

they look like superb festies, but why are Chikinki and BFB mentioned in the headline? Is it something i didn't get there?

Re: DiS Goes Camping: Festival Round Up

Apologies but it took the editors a while to do this article and one of the festivals was last weekend. Sorry about that... but well spotted!

Re: DiS Goes Camping: Festival Round Up

because i was a knobbo and forgot to remove them - there was the lynton and lynmouth festival which BFB were playing, and that got removed cos the festival had passed.

bleh.

another good festival is the Summer sundae in Leicester

dont know if you would call it a big festival or not but it has had some good line ups over the years

this year you've got Mr Scruff, Super Furries, Beta Band, kasabien, ordinary boys and Air to name a few

Yeah, there are a few I missed out on like the Godiva Festival in Coventry which is always pretty cool. There may be a follow up to this article, ya never know.

DiS Goes Camping: Festival Round Up

The thurrock festival sounds phat, the line up looks really promising, shame it's in such a shit area really....

still, the music should febreez through the shitty smell of burberry, tracksuits and suuped up nova's no problem...

it's really cool, i was in touch with the organisers about maybe my band playing there, would've been good but my drummers all fucked off to manchester (still, gotta be better than essex, fair enuff)...

Out There festival sounds good too but i'll be at TMF defo

Re: DiS Goes Camping: Festival Round Up

We here at DiS agree and we may well be involved in a way.... more news on that soon!

The Plymouth lineup looks good. There's a decent yearly festival in Lichfield every 7th August, I'm looking forward to seeing Broken Dolls there this year!
