ATP update: new(ish) additions, site specifications, et cetera...

It's freakin' hot outside, so why the blue-blazin' squad Christ are we talking about December? ATP, d'uh...
Further, quite brilliant, acts have been announced for the now annual Nightmare Before Christmas event, held over the weekend of December 8-10. Joining the already confirmed likes of The Stooges, Sonic Youth, Deerhoof and Bardo Pond are Gang Of Four (who were stunning at Wireless t'other weekend), Dinosaur Jr (literally OMG), Be Your Own PET (pictured, yay jailbait rockin'!) and Nurse With Wound.
Tickets are still available, although six-berth chalets are all but gone. Click your way to the official festival website, here, for more information.
This year's event will be held in Minehead, affording the regular Camber Sands site something of a break. The Butlins Holiday Camp's specifications mean that there are two types of accomodation available: self-catering and room-only, the latter being the cheaper by about twenty quid. Do see the official site for full details, though.
As well as a sandy beach, the new site offers visitors:
a supermarket, newsagent and cash points; Burger King, Pizza Hut, Finnigan's fish and chips; Sun and Moon, Skyline Café and Yacht Club Dining room; a cinema; Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a huge wave pool, a swimming pool, three flumes and also a flume-based raft ride; ten-pin bowling; an amusement arcade; and an array of sports including fencing (while drunk? AMAZING!), archery (ditto!), darts (absolute LMAO!), and crazy golf (crazy!).
All of which adds up to FUN in our book. And our book doesn't lie. It's like the dictionary. Just accept that it's correct.

Splash Water world....
...Probably the largest water fun centre in the southwest of England, Splash Water World has a huge wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes, from a fairly sedate flume to the almighty space bowl, where you exit the flume at 40mph in to a bowl and when your momentum reduces, drop in to a 2m deep plunge tank.

I got the first cheap train possible, 10ish to camber and still didn't get there till 4pm, mineheads gonna be a nightmare if I do go i'll probably go the day before and sleep on the beach or something

Negative Approach will be incredible, super tough even if they are getting on a bit. Them and wolf eyes are going to bring the pure mosh & beat down action for sure.
Its almost a bummer that there's not a bad band on, when then hell am I going to crazy golf my way to glory?..or bowl?..or eat for that matter?

ok guys and gals i just got off the phone to some very special people and man you're gonna be more than happy about this announcement.
absolutely exclusive right, but internet superstar Sandi "FUCKING" Thom has confirmed to play just before Sonic Youth in an attempt to recreate the crowd reaction to David Cross at the last ATP.
That and Cape Man has his own stage where he'll be dancing, listening to his MP3's and dishing out his own brand of hilarious abuse to all the whiny "truly alternative" morons that will inevitably turn up.To quote the great man himself, "TO MANY BANGERS! NOT ENOUGH BURGERS!"

i was told at the last one at camber by some guy who was doing the filming there and operating the tv station that it would be almost twice the capacity and that the venues weren't going to be that much bigger. gutted.
however he did show me the barney suit that they use in the shows for normal guests. it was well big, and heavy. dunno how you'd manage to dance about in that. and it was half seven on sunday morning after having been up all night. soooooo. who knows eh.
