Deadenstereo

Deadenstereo played our first gig on September the 10th 2001. With a spirit of confidence, we decided to head into the studio. That early live demo produced ‘Their Idol’, released in Belgium on a Paperheart records compilation album ‘hi fi songs for lo fi hearts’. Buoyed up by this early success we went back to Chambers Studio and recorded ‘Storyteller’ and ‘Witch For A Love Affair’, two live favourites. We pressed these up with ‘Their Idol’ on our first demo. We gained a lot of interest and gigs from that cd, but began to feel that we could do better, so we have just returned from Split Level Studios. where we recorded three new songs - 'Schadenfreude', 'Learning Our Vices Exist', and 'Never Meant Enough' - (Song of the month at elevationstation.net).

We've all realised that being in a band band is the most important thing in the world to us, and although a hasty van purchase has left us with an expensive hunk of useless metal and rubber in a field near Cupar, that's not going to change.

Fast-forward to today, and we've stepped up the level of gigs we play significantly. It's hard work but we've been playing regularly throughout Edinburgh: Bannermans, Bongo Club, Liquid Rooms, Caledonian Backpackers, La Belle Angele, Citrus Club, The Mercat, Subway Cowgate - the list goes on!. We've also realised that a band must play outside it's home-town, hence gigs in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth and Dundee. We've also had radio-play on Beat 106, Northsound and MeFM in Aberdeen, and student radio in Stirling.

We've been getting favourable reactions from fanzines (Fudge, Alternative 101, Bible Fanzine), e-zines (AUBL, Elevation Station), audiences, radio, and some small record companies with our new cd and live set and we are hoping to capitalise on this by getting more exposure through gigs and radio, and to try and gain the interest of record companies with a view to putting out a single.

At a time when all bands are so easily pigeon-holed, deadenstereo are making music that is both varied and vibrant, and we fully intend to outlive whatever this week's trend my be.
