Bonnie 'Prince' Billy

Signed to label: Domino Records
Will Oldham

Bonnie Prince Billy along with Palace, Palace Songs, Palace Brothers, Pushkin and some more particuarly obscure names are/is Will Oldham.

After picking up his first ever musical credit for taking the photo for Slint's legendary Spiderland album Oldham-Palace-Billy is an incredibly talented musician and songwriter, complete with a following just short of cult status, whose song topics are often dark.

His oft-quivering voice is filled with passion and anger, whilst Oldham himself was covered by all round musical god Johnny Cash on his 2000 album American III: Solitary Man. He has also inspired a new generation of singer-songwriters, one of which is anti-folk god Jeffrey Lewis, whose song 'Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror' recounts an imaginary meeting with Oldham on a subway in which Lewis is raped just like in Oldham's song 'A Sucker's Evening.

As Bonnie Prince Billy, Oldham has six albums to his name: I See A Darkness (1999), Ease Down The Road (2001), Master And Everyone (2003), Superwolf (2005)- a joint effort with former Chavez, Guided By Voices and Zwan man Matt Sweeney, The Brave And The Bold with Tortoise and new album Then Letting Go (both 2006).
