Watch: Jay-Z's Glasto intro film
The intro film shown before Jay-Z's headline set at Glastonbury on Saturday - not shown on the BBC coverage - has appeared on YouTube.
The rapper opened with a cover of 'Wonderwall', playing up to Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher's comments that there was no place for hip-hop at the festival, after the following was shown to the crowd.

But the opening ten minutes of Jay Z's set was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Just before he come on I was worried how everyone would react, but he didn't get where he is today by not knowing how to play a crowd. He absolutely nailed it.

The screen looks like it's breaking. Then it goes to Noel G's interview about how Jay Z shouldn't be there and hip hop had no place at Glasto. Cue a load of recut vids of world leaders, celebs and people in the street reacting to the "outrage" (my fave was Chavez with the subtitle "It's an outrage he's playing!"). Then he came on with Wonderwall playing and got the crowd to sing it. Then everyone was going "JAY Z! JAY Z! JAY Z!". Then he went "I only got one thing to say.................IF YOU HAVING GIRL PROBLEMS I FEEL BAD FOR YOU SON" and everyone went mental

an unbelievably fit wife and has just played a gig to about 90,000 people that everyone is raving about.

And it wasn't social commentary, it was a tongue in cheek pop at how over the top all the talk of him playing had gone.
And he will have had to have paid to use the Beatle's music, and since they love money I doubt they have a problem with it.
Seriously dude, you lost this one. You can fight Noel's battles for him another day.

than Oasis any day, but I can't help but notice that most of the comments in the film advocating Noels view, were directly relevant to Glastonbury...
At least half of the pro-Jay Z comments must have been completely random soundbites...

it was one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long time. And the crowd was blinkin huge bigger than the Who last year. Fair play.

Can't really add anymore to the discussion apart from my own experience really...
I still get tingles just thinking about it.
I had watched Elbow earlier in the evening and declared their show to be one of the greatest i've ever been in the audience for. It was unreal, the crowd knew everyword, everyone sang along, the weather was PERFECT, everybody was grinning their head off. As cheesy as it sounds, it was one of those moments which makes you feel glad to be alive. Oh yes. Anyways, after Elbow, we stuck around for Hot Chip out of laziness and had a bit of a dance. "These are ace" I thought, "but it'll never top that Elbow set. I don't think anything ever will."
Sooooo.... imagine my suprise roughly 40 odd minutes later as i'm going absolutely mental in the middle of one of the largest crowds i've ever seen at the Pyramid Stage. Seriously, it was standing room only towards the back of the field as we made out way down into the crowd.
I will never, ever, ever, ever forget that atmosphere as the Jay-z intro video played out and faded into the opening chords to Wonderwall. I never though i'd hear near 100,000 people boo Noel Gallagher. I never thought a perfect, life-affirming, glowing sunset gig by one of my favourite bands would be blown totally out of the water by a hip-hop act i'd gone to watch out of curiosity, just because i'd never watch it in any other circumstance.
What a fucking gig that was.

and 99 Probs/Back in Black was ace but I could've done without Wonderwall. When it started up I thought "Ooh, he's going to 'rap' over this! This is gonna be the best thing ever!". But he didn't.
A triumph none the less. Interesting that most of the comments on DiS have been really positive and the ones on the Guardian site are generally negative. I think that's got to be a good thing.

off the top of my head there was 3 positive Jay Z comments in the press leading up to this event, Eavis, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jay Z himself.
I was there, and despite having a shitty weekend I NEEDED to see/hear big pimpin' as it's one of my favourite songs ever. No, really. He totally knocked it out the park and a massive HAR HAR FUCK YOU to Noel, who honestly hasn't done anything great since... erm, Oasis fans... little help here?

they actually do rate that as some landslide moment, Deb Harry even says that she didn't think it was a great rap it was just the new thing on the New York scene (hip hop) they thought was innovative.
