Duh-dum-num-num: No new Rage Against the Machine

Reformed anti-capitalist metallers Rage Against The Machine reckon it is rather unlikely that they will record any new material.
In a rare interview about his new project One Day as a Lion (EP review), Zach De La Rocha told The Los Angeles Times that the band were unlikely to record new material, saying: "As far as us recording music in the future, I don’t know where we all fit with that."
In other words, don't be expecting Rage Against The Machine to play any new material when they headline Reading and Leeds festivals on August 22nd and 23rd - yeah, that's next weekend!

From all the comments I've seen
they've never ruled out new material. Just said not to *expect* any.
They're just gonna see how it goes.Unless they've got anything to say, it's not worth them doing new stuff anyway.
Last thing we want is a massively diluted view of Rage, from a substandard new album.
If they can do something great together again, then that's awesome. If not, I'm just happy that they're out there doing the old stuff. It's just as vital as it ever was. -
On one hand
it's nice for fans to see the band live, the fans who missed out on seeing Rage during their pomp.
On the other the reformation make the band look like complete and utter hypocrites. But then again you can argue that about other Celebrity Revolutionaries like Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein et. al.

that I got hold of a copy of the One Day As A Lion EP based on the DiS review, and I've not been disappointed. Zack doing what he does best... spouting political rhetoric over heavy beats. Go check it out people!

Using The Machine to Rage Against It
RATM the machine are not hypocrites, at least not in the sense posited in these views. Do you expect them to exist in a vacuum? In order to further their message they use the resources of a multi-national company. Quite clever really. Bit like Karl Marx using the British Library to research his distinctly anti-capitalist activities.
