Poppin' 'n' slappin' jazz-funk beardy-bassist and IDM protagonist Squarepusher, AKA Tom Jenkinson, releases his new album Just A Souvenir on October 27th through Warp.
That may seem like an excruciatingly long wait for some of you, but fear not, the album is available for digital download from bleep.com, over a month before physical copies hit the shelves. You can also pre-order your physical copy from Warp here. DiS recommends 'A Real Woman'.
You can also catch Mr. Jenkinson in action across Europe and the UK on the following dates:
November:
19 Paris Trabendo
21 Graz Non Stop Cinema
22 Budapest Diesel
26 Berlin Volksbuhne Theatre
28 Amsterdam Melkweg
30 Ghent Vooruit
December:
5-7 Butlin's Minehead ATP Festival
11 Glasgow Numbers @ ABC
12 Manchester The Warehouse Project

Not sure...
...about this album yet. Have listened to it about five or six times through and some of it sounds maybe a little too hyper for my taste. Also probably a bit too much noodling on tracks like The Coathanger. The (relatively) more linear tracks like Star Time 2 and Quadrature are really lush though.
Stuff like The Glass Road sounds like he must have been taking masses of speed when he wrote it.
Will probably leave it a few days and try to digest it again when I'm in a different mood.

What are you guys talking about?
It's excellent. I like it a ton

Yeah, but when you've personally made
"the best album ever," everything else must pale slightly by comparison.

i'm confused by it
my favourite stuff by the pusher was all the real mental stuff like 50 cycles, go spastic etc.
don't get me wrong though, anything the pusher does is about 10 times more inventive than anyone.
