After N*E*R*Ds re-recorded re-launched album, comes a particularly fine remix of the single, 'Rock Star' by that four on the four electromeister Jason Nevins that takes the original spacey rock and r&b of the original and turns it into heavy metal disco! The song gets sped up, and the guitars chopped up, with Pharell Williams's now frenetic distorted rap spinning wildly over the top. A great full-on dance floor tune, set to get the nu-metallers moshing furiously in a club near you.

as it happens i think the nevins remix is rubbish. sucks the life out of the (original) song, Vax cleaner style.-

he shouldnt have been allowed ANYWHERE near it. it sounds as though it was tailor-made for yr local nu-cunting-metal disco. fucking vile. how/why did they allow it to be done, *sigh*...-

...I guess I can see myself dancing like a nutter to it, just like KLF or Leftfield 'Open Up'... The original is a bit stuttery for the dancefloor... which I find about a lot of R&B these days... it sounds great and innovative, but when it comes down to it, doesn't make you wanna BOOGIE. I know Jason Nevins has dumbed down plenty of tracks with his bludgeoning four on the floor treatment. (Run DMC's remix's, for instance)...just in this case, I think that speeding it up and making it flow was a good thing. It reminds me a bit of 'I've got The Power' by Snap, on speed.

You all are a bunch of daft pricks- the record was A listed at Radio 1 and tons of people love it. Obviously you have no idea what a remix is. It has been used for Apples IPOD commercial and in 2 films, Blue Crush and Shanghai Knights. You think they would use the JN version if it wasnt good ? No-they wouldnt ...so YOU can all piss off ! -

-i gotta say, BOTH are totally off the hook. NERD's original was totally sweeeeeet, and appealed to the more exclusive audience that follow NRD, whilst producing a springboard that launched the highly tech. highly evolved new piece (courtesy of the tru cut master JNevins), to bring in the punters of a new generation.
You cant argue that Nevins rework of Run DMC wern't fly!!
-In all, nevins couldnt have created half as much of a good ripp, without the original NERD blueprint..
