Nickelback, you poor, poor confused people.

"'Never Again' sees the grunge-rockers tackling the thorny issue of domestic violence in a typically powerful and thought provoking way." trumpets their press release.

'Typically powerful and though provoking', it turns out, means Canada's most shameful export churns out a grinding, painful sub-Metallica number regalling us of a night where "the living room becomes a boxing room". "She's just a woman!" cries Chad Kroeger as he lifts his knuckles from the floor to gently pat the poor female on her head. But, how does Chad suggest that this situation can be remedied? "Kicking your ass would be a pleasure," he grunts, or perhaps the said victim could find her own solution?

"She grabs the gun, she's had enough, she's going to find out how fucking tough this man is".

Nickelback, turning the most shameful of situations into a chest-beating anthem. And for that, you can only gape in wonderment.

Nickelback - Never Again

truly the most horrible attempt at writing a song about a serious subject. I cringe EVERY time I hear this shite

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

Looks like Radio 1 and xfm aren't playing it thank God, and I don't have the misfortune of having to listen to Capital or Virgin. I'm Nickleback free!!

Martin.

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

If what you want is a solution, well look around there are thousands of essays on the topic. This song, like many other works of modern art, is to express an emotion. It would be hard for anyone to argue that haven't succeeded in that, and just as hard to argue that the song doesn't incite some of the same emotion in the listener. Try to appreciate the song for what it is, instead of contrasting it with something it was never meant to be.

Nickelback - Never Again

An utterly pointless song.
An utterly pointless review.
We all know it's shit. Why tell us again?

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

if 'we all know it's shit' then why are they so fucking popular?

see also: joe wisbey's fake news that haven had split up the week their album was released.

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

Hmm, we have done our homework haven't we??
Coldplay are great.
How did you know about Will Young? That wasn't even put online.
The Haven news thing happened about 6 months before their album was released. Not so fact accurate there, eh?

DiS, how I've missed ye.

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

I stood up for you once. Then I heard what you'd actually done. Surprised you still hang around. Coming back under a false name, how do you sleep at night?

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

You heard what I'd actually done?
You heard about the mass murders, the kiddie-fiddling and the grand fraud?
Shit.

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

I actually put the Will Young review online but it was taken down by someone else after it had about 4 hits...

Nickelback - Never Again

In my opinion, Nickelback is compleatly right in the actions that they express in thier song...anyone who puts up with someone who is pushing them around (espaccally someone like a husband or a dad) should have full access to a fire arm and should be trained not onley to shoot with it but they should also be trained the same way cops are trained...to kill if neccasarry. the onley thing i "gape in wonderment" about is how people can say they dissagree with self defence....and how stupid some people can act.

Nickelback - Never Again

I don't happen to care for the band, but this is a powerful song.

Unlike you (I believe), I have been on the receiving end of the situation this song describes. Even though my situation has changed, every time I hear this song, I turn it up. This song is very powerful and I believe could help a woman get angry and feel a bit empowered to do something about her situation.

So keep your judgemental attitude to yourself. They hit the nail on the head with this one.

Nickelback - Never Again

The more that I listen to it the more I like the song. I don't think it gets enough props; it's not like it was written purely for the sake of being a hit, but to put an issue out there.

Re: Nickelback - Never Again

Jesus Christ! Why dont u just forget the last 15 years of rock music! Nickelback r worse than phil collins and cliff richard put together
