there you go..
Nahhh just kidding, I'll throw you some names. Muse are my favourite band being the first one I truly grew up with. Bands liked owing to an older brother's influence include most Britpop/90s stuff particularly Suede, The Auteurs, Pulp, Longpigs...most Britpop stuff post '94 became a bit shit though no?
Current music tastes are veering onto post rock territory (sorry, had to call it something) with the likes of 65 Days Of Static, maybeshewill, God Is An Astronaut, Slint, Bark Psychosis, Kyte and Russian Circles leading the way. Also trying to get into some more acoustic based acts; enjoy Angus & Julia Stone, Jacob Golden, Stehpanie Dosen, David Ford, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake and a few others.
American-wise I enjoy anything off the Bella Union label most notably The Dears and Annuals. Other names I like include Arcade Fire, The National, Band Of Horses, The Mae Shi, Murder By Death.
Back on these shores new (last 2 years or so) acts I'm enjoying currently are: iLiKETRAiNS, Future Of The Left, Air Cav, Foals, Youthmovies, This Et Al, Los Campesinos!, The Twilight Sad, Maths Class, You Slut!, Danananaykroyd, Polytechnic, Grammatics, Fear Of Music, This City and others.
Acts I like without qualification (i.e in my top lists ever): Mansun, Radiohead, Martin Grech, The Music, The Cooper Temple Clause, McLusky, My Vitriol, Hope Of The States, Placebo, Kings Of Leon, LCD Soundystem, Super Furry Animals
Dancier/electronic stuff: !!!, Roni Size, Andy C, Clark, Matthew Dear, Boards Of Canada, winona, Neon Neon, Dillinja, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, David Holmes
Heavier stuff: QOTSA, System Of A Down, Gallows, 3hostwomexicansandatinofspanners, Shooting At Unarmed Men, Gallows, Nine Inch Nails, Machine Head, Coheed & Cambria, Circa Survive, Pelican
Add to that Matthew Bourne and a smattering of Jazz and classical music contemporary and old (Einaudi, John Metcalfe, Keith Jarrett alongside Rachmaninov, Vivaldi, Chopin and Bach)
Yeah, on second thoughts just look at my last.fm profile
